Poi spinning is an art form native to New Zealand. The term poi originates from the Maori word for ball. The principal construction of poi is a weighted ball connected to a finger loop by a length of string or chain. Spinning poi is a visually stunning technique, and coupled with some elaborate dance moves, can look very impressive indeed. We have a large variety of poi ranging from CLOTH POI to the truly captivating FIRE POI.
The main challenge of spinning poi is the keep the line taut by keeping the ball moving at all times. This is different to normal juggling in that the ball is attached to you by the string, so you can manipulate it without touching the actual ball itself. Our poi sets all come with a free Flames ‘N Games drawstring travel bag.
